[Computer Science] Innovate Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY

Silicon Valley Education Foundation has been partnering with school districts since 2008 to offer direct-service classes. Our mission is To deliver and advocate for equitable STEM education that inspires and prepares students for college and careers.[Computer Science] Innovate ([CS]I) is designed for rising 4th-10th graders, equipping them with essential computer science and design-thinking skills thorough weekly hands-on projects. Our curriculum is developed by Microsoft and curated by our expert team.

LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE

  • Each class is held at a specific site determined by each district.

  • The 18-24-day programs will run approximately mid-June through the end of July.

  • Each session runs on average from 3.5-5 hours a day, but are determined by district needs.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the program with fidelity and adopt instructional practices that best address the learning needs of students. This includes providing constructive feedback to students and scoring student projects according to [CS]I rubrics.

  • Complete evaluation and data collection requirements such as administering pre and post student assessments and attitudinal surveys and a teacher post-implementation debrief.

  • Integrate technology to strengthen access to online curriculum and tools.

  • Track attendance and communicate student concerns with families and [CS]I staff as appropriate.

  • Be on campus 15 minutes before class begins and 15 minutes after (included in the daily rate)

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE OF

  • California Teaching Credential

  • SVEF fingerprinting required. District-specific fingerprinting may be required

  • Experience teaching computer science is preferred but NOT required

  • Required proof of TB test results and fingerprinting before working with students (costs reimbursed by SVEF). District-specific fingerprinting may be required.

COMPENSATION

Middle and High School Programs (201 and 202 and 300): $260 daily rate (19 class days + 4 training days + 1 planning day + 1 district meeting class setup day=$6,500*)

Longer Day High School Programs (300): $325 daily rate (24 class days + 4 training days + 1 planning day + 1 district meeting class setup day= $9,750*)

*Full compensation includes fulfillment of all PL and PLC dates, daily instruction, and required logistics. Payroll taxes apply. SVEF is committed to be in compliance with federal and state of California pay and benefit laws including minimum wage pay, benefits and breaks.
